Midge has found a Library book ninety years overdue. She would like to return it. Unfortunately, the Library has rules, the Overdue Office has fines, and doing the right thing is going to cost Midge everything.

Midge is a baker and owner of the Book & Bun in one of Colophon's poorest districts. Facing an insurmountable fine, and a moral imperative to right a wrong, Midge is going to have to bend the rules. But she will not lie, surrender the bakery, or accept that a book cannot be returned because she lacks the credentials to cut through all the red tape.

So Midge recruits Brando and Deep, two men who specialize in food heists. Armed with the wrong map, a length of string, and a quantity of marmalade, they intend to break into the greatest Library in the Disputed Lands.
