A good short story that seems to span 2 genres. We start off with the modern, snarky, and unsavory female protagonist we have become accustomed to in Flynn's work. Then the story morphs into a heavy horror story, then leaves you wondering what is real and who to believe. I enjoyed it, but creepy kids are not something I enjoy, and they tend to pop up in Flynn's work. Maybe its my optimistic nature <sarc mark>, but I have trouble believing in psychopathic preteens like the one here and in Sharp Objects. This is a nice quick read and a good way to spend a Friday afternoon.
